BACKGROUND
In July 2020, Cabinet and Council considered the Finance Update
report of the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Finance,
Procurement and Commercial Property.
Within the report members were advised of a development opportunity
on the site of the former Halton Castle Inn.
The report sought approval to acquire the site, subject to the
Chief Operating Officer carrying out all necessary due
diligence.
Officers have carried out the necessary due diligence work and the
decision to acquire and develop the site has been taken.

In February Cabinet & Council considered a
report regarding the purchase of land at Failie, Skelmersdale from
Lancashire County Council for the proposed development of 50
affordable homes for the Council.
In progressing with the purchase, contracts have been received
which include an overage clause and LCC are seeking their legal
costs & surveyors fees.
